Incorporate plenty of organic matter at planting along with a granular fertiliser. Apply a liquid feed throughout the growing season. Cut back flower heads in first season to encourage flower growth in the second year, leave foliage on the plant overwinter. In the second year of flowering leave on flowering heads which will encourage self seeding to produce further plants in subsequent years.
